Calibrated Tracer Gas Leak Standards

Tracer Gas Model Selection Overview

Crimped Capillary Model (CP, CPH)

The CPH model calibrated leak standard is available for several different gas types and mixes. This model was developed to be compatible with Ultra-High vacuum systems and other critical applications where out gassing and background signals need to be kept to a minimum.

The CP model calibrated leak standard, though typically utilized flowing helium is also available flowing several different gas types and mixes. The difference is the CP models shut off valve has a Teflon valve packing that seals on the valve stem in the place of the all metal welded bellows model used on the CPH model. This model is an economical option that works well for most applications that utilize o-ring type vacuum fittings.

Features:
  • Unbreakable stainless steel crimped capillary type leak element
  • All welded stainless steel construction
  • All metal vacuum fittings, VCR or Con-flat (Del-Seal), others available
  • Very low temperature coefficient of 0.2%/°C
  • Can be baked to 150°C, 250°C with optional all metal fill valve
Open Style Crimped Capillary Model (CPO)

The CPO model calibrated leak standard is an open style calibrated leak with no gas reservoir, the customer supplies gas from a regulated gas supply. This model is available for several different gas types and gas mixes. This model is available with all metal fittings to be compatible with Ultra-High vacuum systems and other critical applications where out gassing and background signals need to be kept to a minimum. This model is also available with fittings suitable for high pressure applications. The CPO model is available in leak rates ranging from 10-5 to 10-2 atm-cc/s (Other rates available upon request).

Features:
  • Unbreakable stainless steel crimped capillary type leak element
  • Stainless steel construction
  • Very low temperature coefficient of 0.2%/°C
  • Available with all metal vacuum fittings, VCR or Con-flat (Del-Seal), others available
  • Can be baked to 400°C with appropriate fittings
Capillary "Sniffer" Model (CPS)

The CPS model calibrated leak standard is available for several different gas types and mixes. This model was developed to accurately calibrate "Sniffer" type leak detectors. This type of leak detector samples from atmospheric conditions via a "Sniffer Probe" Assembly. Calibrated leak standards with shut-off valves should not be used to calibrate a "Sniffer Type" leak detector. This model is available in leak rates ranging from 10-5 to 10-2 atm-cc/s (Other rates available upon request).

Features:
  • Pin-point gas source that introduces tracer gas without "dead volumes" where gases can accumulate and cause inaccurate, inconsistent readings on a leak detector.
  • Accepts a variety of “Sniffer Probes” from various manufactures
  • Unbreakable stainless steel crimped capillary type leak element
  • All welded stainless steel construction
  • Very low temperature coefficient of 0.2%/°C

This model is available with various sizes of DOT rated gas reservoirs, the reservoir size is usually dictated by the leak rate to insure an acceptable yearly depletion rate.

Variable Rate Crimped Capillary Model (CPV)

The CPV model calibrated leak standard is available for several different gas types and mixes. The CPV model was developed to calibrate "sniffer" type leak detectors. The CPV model is often used to verify the concentration of a tracer gas in a mix, and to calibrate hydrogen leak detectors. The CPV model features a pin-point gas source that accepts and aligns most manufacturers "sniffer probes" with virtually no "dead volume" where tracer gases can accumulate and cause inconsistent readings. Calibrated helium leak standards with shut-off valves and should not be used to calibrate a "Sniffer Type" leak detector. This model is available in leak rates ranging from 10-5 to 10-2 atm-cc/s (Other rates available upon request).

Features:
  • Three point calibration with attached graph (Press. vs. leak rate)
  • Pin-point gas source that works well with many "sniffer probes" * Unbreakable stainless steel crimped capillary type leak element
  • Very low temperature coefficient, 0.2%/°C
  • Gas may be vented prior to shipping.
  • Available with a Sensistor Hydrogen Leak Detector sniffer probe interface.
  • Refilling kit/pressure regulator is available to facilitate safe and easy refilling
Variable Rate Teflon Permeation Model (TPV)

The TPV model calibrated helium leak standard works equally well calibrating helium leak detectors that test under vacuum, and with helium leak detectors that sample from atmosphere utilizing a "sniffer probe". This was accomplished by designing the TPV model with both an integral KF25 (NW25) vacuum fitting and a pin-point helium source that accepts and aligns most manufacturers "sniffer probes" with virtually no "dead volume" where helium can accumulate and cause inconsistent readings. Calibrated helium leak standards with shut-off valves and should not be used to calibrate a "Sniffer Type" leak detector. The Teflon permeation type leak element is not driven by differential pressure but helium partial pressure flows helium at virtually the same rate flowing into a vacuum or flowing

Features:
  • Three point calibration with attached graph (Press. vs. leak rate)
  • Unbreakable Teflon permeation type leak element
  • Not susceptible to plugging
  • The helium may be vented with the TPV model prior to shipping.
  • Refilling kit/pressure regulator is available to facilitate safe and easy refilling

Cincinnati Test Systems utilizes the finest grade of Teflon available to manufacture their Teflon leak elements. The leak elements have been tested at temperatures ranging from 10°C to 40°C yielding a temperature coefficient of approximately 2.5%/°C with no anomalous behavior.

Teflon Permeation Model (TP)

The TP model calibrated helium leak standard was developed to calibrate vacuum systems and helium leak detectors that test under vacuum. This model works well in an industrial environment and is the best choice for applications where the calibrated leak standard will be exposed contaminates, such as on a vacuum chamber application.

Features:
  • Unbreakable Teflon permeation type leak element
  • All welded stainless steel construction
  • Complete with a shut off valve
  • Not susceptible to plug

This model is available with various sizes of DOT rated gas reservoirs, the reservoir size is usually dictated by the leak rate to insure an acceptable yearly depletion rate.

Teflon Permeation "Sniffer" Model (TPS)

The TPS model calibrated helium leak standard works equally well calibrating helium leak detectors that test under vacuum, and with helium leak detectors that sample from atmosphere utilizing a "sniffer probe". This was accomplished by designing the TPV model with both an integral KF25 (NW25) vacuum fitting and a pin-point helium source that accepts and aligns most manufacturers "sniffer probes" with virtually no “dead volume” where helium can accumulate and cause inconsistent readings. Calibrated helium leak standards with shut-off valves and should not be used to calibrate a "Sniffer Type" leak detector. The Teflon permeation type leak element is not driven by differential pressure but helium partial pressure flows helium at virtually the same rate flowing into a vacuum or flowing into normal atmospheric conditions.

Features:
  • Three point calibration with attached graph (Press. vs. leak rate)
  • Unbreakable Teflon permeation type leak element
  • All welded stainless steel construction
  • Not susceptible to plugging.

This model is available with various sizes of DOT rated gas reservoirs, the reservoir size is usually dictated by the leak rate to insure an acceptable yearly depletion rate.

This model is available in leak rates ranging from 10-10 to 10-5 atm-cc/s (Other rates available upon request).
