Engine Block Leak Testing

Car and light truck manufacturers are developing new engine technologies to reduce weight and improve fuel efficiency.

Test requirement:

Engine block testing requires that the separate water, oil and air cavities be independently tested to insure that there are no internal or external leaks in the cast engine block after machining.

CTS solution:

An automated stand interlocks eight fixture plates to seal the multiple complex angle sealing surfaces of four and six cylinder engines.  The versatile Sentinel I-24 leak test instrument performs sequential tests of the various cavities using differential pressure decay test technology to leak test spec of 1.0 to 12.0 sccm depending on the cavity and engine type.
